This morning we received news that Shane Warne, perhaps the greatest cricketer of my lifetime, died suddenly last night of a heart attack at the age of just 52.
He was a larger-than-life character, an Australian spin bowler who took 708 Test wickets (second highest in the history of the game) and who became a gloriously entertaining raconteur and commentator on the sport.
His love of life was so obvious and so appealing. We’ll not see his like again, and the world is lesser for his passing.
As you may suspect, if you thought about it at all, I know nothing about cricket however I saw a movie a few weeks ago that looked really interesting so I downloaded it. It was of course Shane, The King of Spin. He is a remarkable man, but I still don’t know much about cricket.

I’m so glad you took the time to watch that. He was so full of life, lived it to the fullest.
