Christies held an Impressionist and Modern, and Surrealist sale in London last night, and prices were firm. A Rene Magritte topped the list at $24.6 million, while Tamara de Lempicka’s Portrait de Marjorie Ferry went for a record for the artist at $21.2 million.

The sales brought in a total $138 million, double the $64.9 million collected at Sotheby’s similar sale a few days earlier.
