Translink’s Dangerous Disregard

This morning, the ever-loving and I took the #20 bus from Commercial & Adanac up to 33rd. At every stop — even in  the heart of the Drive — the bus stop where people get on and off the bus was barricaded by low piles of slush and ice.

I cannot count the number of seniors I saw slip and fall as they attempted to board or alight from the bus. At one stop, a very old man in a wheelchair was completely immobilized by the slippery surface. I had to get off the bus and push his wheelchair onto the ramp — the bus driver had no intention of helping as he made clear when he called for volunteers to assist the guy.

Translink has a terrible public relations position, And an idiotic and dangerous refusal to clear hazardous bus stops days after snowfall does nothing to help that situation.  You should give shovels to some of your overpaid executives and transit cops and put them out to good work.
