Reminder: Complete Streets Meetings

This is a reminder that the City is holding two open houses this week to elicit feedback from Grandview residents about their Complete Streets program.  The program intends to improve all forms of transportation on Commercial Drive.

You can view the City’s display boards prior to the open houses.

The open houses are on:

  • Thursday 20th at Croatian Cultural Centre from 3:00pm to 7:30pm
  • Saturday 22nd at WISE Hall from 10:00am to 3:00pm

This is important stuff concerning how the Drive will work in the future. While I have strong reservations about the Open House style of “consultation”, it is worthwhile to attend and make YOUR opinions known so that neither bike fanatics nor anti-bikers control the dialogue.

As I believe I may have written before, I will be going to push for more benches and to oppose any reduction in the number of bus stops along the Drive.

One Response to Reminder: Complete Streets Meetings

  1. a drive flaneur says:

Yup, number of bus stops to be halved and spaced 3 to 4 blocks apart, by my measurements. I foresee more passups and full-up buses from Main to First Avenue rather than the gradual “leak” of passengers every 2 block as of now, so that by First Avenue the bus is only 70 percent full.

At 5 o’clock on Thursday at the Croatian Centre only a few dozen public had showed up, outnumbered by the planners and consultants.

I see that “the Real Estate Foundation of BC for supporting our work with Streets For Everyone.” in the Bike Lobby’s email drive for this dreadful UBC Masters student’s in planning.
