Good stuff. I’ve not encountered Bygraves before. He seems very much in the Music Hall tradition. The song, by the way, is very reminiscent of “In a mountain greenery where God made the scenery” by Rogers and Hart.

Yes, the tune is definitely similar. The lyrics to “Fings” are worth studying as a social sciences course on change in England in 1960. Bygraves was the big star when I was a nipper. He was my Mom’s favourite and we used to go watch him at the Chiswick Empire Music Hall.
