Dinner Tonight #2

July 5, 2016

Tonight’s dinner was all-killer no-filler shrimp cakes, served with marinated cucumber and onion salad and a spicy Thai dipping sauce. It was the second time I’ve made these and they were even better this time.

A Smashing Series

July 5, 2016

With today’s impressive win, England’s cricketers have beaten the Sri Lankans in all three formats of the game without suffering any defeats.

  • In the three Test matches, England won two by wide margins and the third was drawn;
  • In the five ODIs, one match was tied and another was rained out. England won the other three by large amounts;
  • In today’s T20I, England won by 8 wickets and Sri Lanka were never really in the frame.

The English Test team under Captain Alastair Cook are becoming a solid unit (while still needing to settle the opening pair), while the limited over teams under Eoin Morgan are already powerhouses, especially at batting.

It is true that Sri Lanka are a team in transition, with several senior and world-class players having recently retired, and captain Angelo Matthews had few experienced players to settle the nerves. But the convincing wins in this series will ensure that England prepare for the much stronger Pakistani challenge later this month with extra confidence.
