It was a sunny, hot, busy, happy day on Commercial Drive this afternoon. Every patio seemed to be bursting at the seams, and the sidewalks were crazily crowded.
Talk about crowded! The No Tower community outreach table in the Park was swamped with interested residents. Most were willing and eager to sign the petition against the huge unwanted tower at Commercial & Venables, and to discuss the pro-Kettle pro-community alternatives that the Coalition has put forward. In fact, I know they broke through a significant milestone of support today — but I’ll let them announce that themselves.
Just up the street in the Napier Greenway, the Stone Soup Festival seemed to be as popular as ever.
Grandview’s much-loved Carnival Band was out in force, out in their colourful, loud, and majestic best, to entertain the crowds at the Festival (select the picture for a larger image). Along with the band, there were numerous local artisans and organizations providing a wide range of goods and services.
It’s all good stuff, and congratulations to Grandview for supporting these efforts.
