Reconciliation in Action

There was a marvelous event at Britannia today. It was called Reconciliation in Action, part of the national Reconciliation movement in which the cultures of Canada’s aboriginal peoples are celebrated and the terrible wrongs this nation did to them are recognized and remembered.

The event took place throughout the greenway and the main Britannia square, with many groups, including the NO TOWER Coalition, hosting tables.  The primary events included drumming, singing, speeches, story-telling, and dancing, and there was an enthusiastic crowd throughout the afternoon.

The event was concluded with an open-air feast which, unfortunately, I was unable to stay for — but it sure smelled good as I left!
