Into The Vacuum

September 12, 2015

In a Guardian piece, ethicist Kenan Malik was asked to comment on the accession of radical Jeremy Corbyn to the leadership of the British Labour Party.  His description of the political background reminded me strongly of Vancouver civic politics:

There are “the mainstream political institutions that champion technocratic managerialism, and through which politicians often seek to bypass democratic processes, and a growing mass of people who feel alienated and politically voiceless.”

Talking with literally thousands of people during both the Community Plan and the NO TOWER campaign proves to me that “the mass of people” who are alienated is growing rapidly, and growing restless.
