Today we celebrate the birthday in 1869 of the glorious and inspirational Emma Goldman. Long may she live in our memory.
Yesterday, the ever-loving and I were wandering the Drive and, it being lunchtime, we stopped in at the Cannibal Cafe. It has been open for a while now but this was our first visit.
The place was lively and loud and busy for a mid-week lunch. That was good. Service was fine and the burgers (she: the Classic jr., me: the Big Blue) were excellent, possibly the best I ever had on the Drive. But it is a little expensive — and fries are extra. I think I have been spoiled by the inexpensive $5 Dime burgers which are not far behind the quality and quantity of the Cannibal.
I guess the real comparison is with Vera’s. I haven’t tried “the new management” yet, but I was never a fan of the original Vera’s or their burger. The Cannibal seems altogether superior. Now, I wonder what the comparision with reLish will be.
The Cannibal also seems to have a good range of beers, which is useful and becoming standard on the Drive.
If you like good burgers, this is one to try.
