No Tower @ Commercial & Venables

June 4, 2015

The opposition to the proposal to build a huge tower on Commercial between Venables and Adanac continues to grow. An organized community group, No Venables Tower, has had a number of productive meetings over the last few weeks, and has formulated plans to oppose any development above four storeys on the site.

This is the first of a number of flyers being distributed throughout the neighbourhood to encourage awareness of the proposal.

A Day For Pleasure

June 4, 2015

I’m sure I had some “important” things on my To Do list today. But I didn’t get to them. Instead, I wallowed in a variety of materialist pleasures.

To begin, after getting up early, I went back to bed for a short (hour long) nap. Then, after a leisurly toilette, we ambled our way down to Western Lake for dim sum.  We have been there countless times over these many years, and yet today’s was even better than ever before! Everything was absolutely fresh, hot, and delicious.  And, as always, I was amazed at how busy they were at 10:30 on a Thursday morning!

The cabaret on the #20 was as good as ever (both ways) and, by the time we got home, the perfect thing to do was a three hour nap.  It was grand.

After waking up, again, I made a wonderfully creamy and aromatic mushroom and chicken pie with potatoes and broccoli.  Totally full again and wondering now if I can stay awake until bedtime!
