Here was the view at lunchtime today from SFU Harbourside looking on the North Shore mountains.

Incredible to see no snow at all.  Must be a terrible year for the operators.

Does Real Education Exist in the US?

The following video shows a correspondent visiting a beach and asking Americans some basic history questions (“Who bombed Pearl Harbour?”, “Who Was George Washington?”, “Who Won the Civil War?”) and the “hilarious” answers supplied.

One could treat this as comedy (which is basically how it is presented). But more seriously it shows such a deep level of failure in the American educational system as to be appalling. More, it is this kind of ignorance that allows the Y’All Qaeda movement to thrive.

Finally, it is ironic that this piece comes from Faux News, perhaps the leader in selective information and false reporting.

Yoko Ono — musician, artist, filmmaker, and uber-activist for peace — is 82 years old today.

This wonderfully intelligent and creative woman does more in a year than most of us do in a lifetime.  I hope she keeps it up for many many years to come.
