Response to Planners

January 17, 2014

The Grandview-Woodland Ad-Hoc Committee on the Citizens’ Assembly has written a detailed response to the City of Vancouver’s draft questions about the important and pioneering Citizens’ Assembly portion of the renewed GW Community Plan process.

The response was primarily the work of the excellent meeting we had on Tuesday evening, and begins:

“We believe the role of the Assembly should be to review, revise, recommend and, where necessary, reject the full range of subject matter contained within the Community Plan.  It needs to be central to the hard decisions concerning values and trade-offs, including community benefits and amenities.”

Now we look forward to the Planners’ response to that.

In the meanwhile, we have their Information Meetings on the Assembly to attend. The first of two is at the Maritime Labour Centre, 1880 Triumph, from noon until 3pm on January 25th.  The second is at the Croatian Cultural Centre, 3250 Commercial Drive, from 6pm to 9pm on January 28th.  I understand the presentations will be the same on both evenings. I’ll be going to the first one.
