As some of you may know, we are just about to start a new Community Planning process for Grandview. Many of us are concerned about the apparent lack of interest for heritage issues expressed in the Terms of Reference documents being sent to Council this week.
The Grandview Heritage Group has written a letter to City Council expressing our concerns with this approach and I urge you to read the letter and ask that you immediately contact City Council to tell them of your support for our issues. Thanks!
Posted from a semi-tropical England where the temperatures this week have been typical for July rather than March.

Tomorrow morning — subject to the whims of Air Canada — I leave Vancouver for a couple of weeks. I’ll keep looking for wifi hot spots, but coverage may be spotty until I get back.
Plenty to read here, though, and at The Drive Press and the Grandview Heritage Group.
Be back soon!

The current crisis in the British Columbia education system gives us the opportunity to thoroughly overhaul how we manage education in this province.
We should take this opportunity to actively encourage home- and community schooling. Getting tens of thousands of children out of the broken system would save taxpayers a heck of a lot of money. And those parents who don’t mind the State screwing with their kids’ heads will have much smaller classes for them to bounce around in.

What a wonderful game of rugby this morning, with Wales overcoming France to complete a sweep of 5 wins in the Six Nations tournament!
I was privileged enough to watch the classic Welsh teams of the 1970s with Barry John, Gareth Edwards and the rest. But I really think the 2011-2012 Welsh are even better than that.

Last night I gave a short presentation to the Grandview Heritage Group of my preliminary analysis concerning the growth of businesses on Commercial Drive from 1900 to 1999. It is, as I say, preliminary work but it proved of interest.
On the Grandview Heritage Group website, I have made available a downloadable pdf if you’d like to take a look.
