Animal Rights

I believe that all living creatures should be treated with the care and attention that they need to survive and prosper. However, I am speciesist enough to believe that animals should not have “human rights”. The very idea that animals should have the right of representation in court by a State-paid lawyer seems daft to me, to be honest. And it is even crazier that any moderately-efficient country could allow the question of lawyers-for-animals to get on a national ballot.

Well, at least the Swiss voted against it, by more than 70%.  Thank goodness for small mercies.
