The Road To Hope, Fall
May 16, 2008We’re Back!
March 9, 2008We’re back from a wonderfully refreshing break, soaking in the hot springs water and wandering the empty streets of the winter-time village.
This is a montage of the three outdoor pools at the resort. The circular building at top right (only a part of the green roof can be seen) has another two indoor pools. The improvements to the site since I first visited in 1980 or 1981 are remarkable (although I am certain that the Jones Boys who perform in the Copper Room haven’t changed one bit in those 25+ years).
The Settler pub is still the safest place to eat in Harrison — and pretty good at that. We risked a sushi place by the lake one night and reminded ourselves that there is a reason one doesn’t eat sushi inland. And the Lakeview Cafe gets you a decent breakfast. However, everywhere you go in Harrison you are reminded that the few places open this time of year can charge whatever they want. Small (previously frozen) bento boxes cost us the same as a full and fresh Japanese meal in Vancouver, while the basic breakfast was about $8.00 for what we’d get for less than $5.00 on the Drive.
Still and all, the relaxation is worth the price.
Hot Springs and …
March 6, 2008… relaxation. We are off to Harrison Hot Springs for a long weekend.
